Mikumi National Park is easily accessible by road, and it supports a large number of elephants, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, wildebeest, elands, impalas, waterbucks, and other species. At the same time, you’ll visit the Udzungwa Mountain National Park. This tour starts in Dar es Salaam after boarding an SGR (Standard Gauge Railway) train at 6:00 am after a transfer from the hotel.

Safari Itinerary
Day 1
Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park by SGR Train
We’ll arrange a pick up for you from the hotel in Dar es Salaam or the airport and drive to the train station for a safari to Morogoro Town starting at 6:00 am. You’ll arrive at 8:00 am in Morogoro Town with a drop-off at the SGR station.
On arrival, you’ll be met by our driver and start your drive from Morogoro TownSGR (Standard Gauge Railway) Station to Mikumi National Park, where you’ll arrive at 9:30 am. After check-in, you’ll proceed with the game drive across the park, with a high chance of animal viewing during a pleasing guided game drive. You’ll proceed with the game drive till lunch, stopping at 1:00 pm. After having your stop for lunch, you’ll then proceed with the game drive till evening.
Day 2
Mikumi National Park and Maasai Cultural Tour
You’ll have morning breakfast then proceed with a full-day game drive viewing the prosperity of Mikumi National Park. You will see all species of animals and birds. Due to its savannah plain, animals at Mikumi National Park are easily accessed. You’ll proceed with the game drive till lunch stopping at 1:00 pm. After having your stop for lunch, you’ll then proceed with the game drive till 4:00 pm.
The rest of the day will be spent on the Maasai cultural tour! Our guide will guide you to the local Maasai village in Mikumi; you’ll enjoy the local life of African people and learn new things about the Maasai. Later in the evening, around 6:30 pm, you’ll be driven back to the camp.
Day 3
Udzungwa (Sanje Waterfall) then Drive to Morogoro
The day will start with breakfast from Camp Bastian at 6:30 am then head for the Sanje Waterfalls at Udzungwa. This is the highest waterfall in Tanzania. You can swim in the natural pool (remember your swimwear).
Our guide/rangers will accompany you on the hiking tour. Udzungwa Mountains National Park is well known for its excellent hiking, trekking, mountain climbing, and forest walks. The most popular hiking tour is up to the Sanje Waterfalls, looking for monkeys, swimming in plunge pools, and enjoying the spectacular view while enjoying a picnic lunch.
After lunch at 1:00 pm, you’ll start driving back to Morogoro for an SGR (Standard Gauge Railway) Train at 7:00 pm. The drive from Udzungwa to Morogoro Town will take you 3 hours. You’ll start the drive to Dar es Salaam with a drop-off at the hotel or airport.
